We just returned from a wonderful trip out west–rafting down a stretch of the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon!  We all–Dean, Lori, and John (Jane’s family), Jane and I–had the best time ever.  More pics forthcoming, but wanted to post a happy pic of us at the Bar 10 dude ranch in the middle of nowhere Arizona, just north of the north rim of the Canyon.  It was a bit like planes, trains and automobiles: we took a 14 person prop-plane from Vegas to the Bar 10 ranch (horseback riding, skeet shooting, and sleeping in Conestoga wagons), then the next day took our first helicopter ride down into the canyon (awesome, but wouldn’t want to commute on either on a regular basis!).  Then down the canyon in two 14-person mongo rafts for 3 days, with a jet boat ride at the end back towards Lake Mead, and a 2 hour bus ride to the Vegas Strip.

When you plan a trip like this you’re mostly thinking about the natural beauty of the Southwest and the whitewater adventure, but what resonates most is the people we met and the camaraderie we all felt during our short trip down the river.  Some great folks and lots of laughs–like summer camp for adults!  Check out Western River Expeditions and plan a trip today.  Friend us here and stay tuned to see more photos and videos!

Jane and I have been to the South Norwalk CT Maritime Aquarium with our boys who loved it all, especially the stingrays and sharks and the exhibits about Long Island Sound.  It’s a very cool museum and it made a great setting for events including the recent Bar Mitzvah we photographed.   Lots of love and a real celebration of growing up…Mazel Tov!  Click here to view more photos.

Springtime in Paris has nothing on New York…especially last Saturday in Central Park.  Amidst the thousands of folks soaking in the sun, we met Rachel and Mike for a fun photo shoot all around the Bethesda Fountain.  With a violinist playing–appropriately enough for a couple getting married this fall–Pachelbel’s Canon in D, we photographed Rachel and Mike down under in the Bethesda Arcade before strolling to the Sheep Meadow for a blast of green grass and sunshine.  You know, you really can have an intimate shoot in a city full of people.

Pretty in Pink!  This will put a smile on your face…check out Style Me Pretty today for Caity and Matt’s great garden party preppy wedding at the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington CT last summer!  Croquet and cocktails, parasols and Veuve Clicquot, this was a fun, stylish and relaxed wedding.  Pink abounded from the stationery & name cards to the Jenny Yoo bridesmaids’ dresses and Vineyard Vines groomsmens’ bowties.  Beautiful flowers from Dragonfly Events decorated the long Sperry Tent set up on the lawn of the mansion, just up the hill from Farmington’s Main Street where Caity and her father rode in a horse-drawn carriage from their home to the church.  A great job by Lindsay and Talia of Sixpence for your Shoe who planned the wedding–you can see more of our blogpost from Caity and Matt’s wedding last June.  Click here or on the pics below to see a full gallery of Caity and Matt’s wedding images from Style Me Pretty…enjoy!

Well I (Jane) haven’t been to a wedding as a guest since my cousin’s wedding in Wales back in 2010, so it was so fun attending Miss Nikki Nicole’s New Orleans French Quarter destination wedding!  All of us from our girls photographers’ group were on hand, shooting away and have a wonderful time–Carla and Amanda and myself, along with our photog guy friends, Paul, Ty, Jim, and Dave.   Nikki asked me to shoot a few bridal portraits and we all had a hard time putting our cameras down during her ceremony on the French Quarter’s Royal Street which was followed by the Young Pinstripes New Orleans Marching Brass Band parade!  The feeling was pure joy with the music and the excitement of a street wedding…what a spectacle and just so in-the-moment!!!  Also loved Nikki’s short Modern Trousseau dress from The White Dress by the Shore and gold Jimmy Choos…so very Nikki Nicole!  Here are some of my photos–congratulations Nikki and Rob–your wedding was a blast!!  Click here to see more pics!

Go Mets!  It’s opening day for the New York Mets at Citi Field (and Santana’s back on the mound!) and we can now show you the portraits we took in March in Port St. Lucie FL at Spring Training.  As always it’s great working with Julie, our client at SportsNet NY (SNY), which uses the photos during game broadcasts for player intros, etc.  This is our fourth year shooting the Mets at Spring Training, where we set up a studio in the visiting team’s locker room and shoot all the players at 7am on “Picture Day” in 90 minutes.

Our assignment is to capture a different side of the players from straight sports photography–this year SNY’s art director asked for a split-face shot for their on-screen use.  Photos of David Wright, Johan Santana, Josh Thole, Ike Davis, Manny Acosta, Daniel Murphy, R.A. We zipped into Manhattan in early March to photograph a wonderful 25th birthday party…and what a night it was!  Charlotte’s celebration ran the spectrum from lively cocktail party to intimate candlelit dinner to all-out dance party for hundreds of friends to the mash-up sounds of special guest,  The White Panda.  A perfect party in every way!

The venue, Skylight Soho on Hudson Street, was so creatively decorated by Lewis Miller Design with beautiful chandeliers, floral arrangements and stylish touches, cuisine from Olivier Cheng Catering along with a cool custom cake from Lulu Custom Cake Boutique.  It was a pleasure working again with Elizabeth Allen, event planner & designer extraordinaire.  Below are photos from the night (and click here to see more).  Happy Birthday Charlotte!

Happy Monday!  Jane’s photo of Rachel and Anil’s Lenox MA wedding placed in WPJA’s photo contest.  WPJA is the Wedding Photojournalist Association…the site for documentary style photogs.  Rachel and Anil were married in a wonderful tented wedding at Chesterwood (beautiful venue for your wedding–check them out) up in Stockbridge MA in the Berkshires last May…here’s the shot of them having some photobooth fun!
